Joan Marie Paylo and William Goldschlag were married yesterday in Short Hills, N.J. The Rev. Dr. Arthur Caliandro, a minister of the Reformed Church in America, officiated at the home of Patricia Coate, a friend of the couple. Justice Louis B. York of State Supreme Court in Manhattan took part in the ceremony. Ms. Paylo, 48, is keeping her name. Until last October she was the senior director for public affairs in New York at the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. She graduated magna cum laude from Northwestern University and received a master's degree in television from Syracuse University. Her first marriage ended in divorce. She is the daughter of Marjorie M. Paylo of Whiting, Ind., and the late John L. Paylo.

Maloney performed the ceremony at St. Catharine's Roman Catholic Church in Spring Lake, N.J. Mrs. Stockton, 27, is a foreign news editor in Secaucus, N.J., for NBC News. She graduated from Georgetown University. Her father, who is a special counsel at the New York law firm of Kaye, Scholer, Fierman, Hays & Handler, is the chairman of Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani's Advisory Committee on the Judiciary. Mr. Curran was the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York from 1973 to 1975.
